I began as a professional
artist in 1975, starting in the
fantasy genre.
I am also known as "Oscar Dandelion",
from the years
doing fantasy artwork, and
using it
as my signature on card and stationery designs.
My early art
training was from the University of Florida,
then private
instruction gave me the direction I was to follow.
In 1985 many would
have said the worst happened.
I was in an auto
accident which resulted in spinal cord injury.
Among many was
the great frustration that as a
quadriplegic
I would be separated from my artwork.
With the help
of thoughtful people, and the aid of the
Department of
Vocational Rehabilitation, I began to explore the
possibilities
of being an artist again.
I needed to modify
my skills. I went to re-educate
myself at Santa
Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL, the
Daytona Beach
Community College, and once again to the
University of
Florida.
Now with the
aid of a special hand brace, and a computer
with a few added
gizmos, I create once more.
I use several
art programs: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator,
Metacreations
Poser and Painter, and Right Hemisphere Deep Paint.
